Rachel Breshawn
Rachel Dumas is a Detroit-based photographer attending the College for Creative Studies. She specializes in editorial and conceptual work that explores societal issues within the Black community. Through her lens, she tells stories that challenge perceptions, spark self-reflection, and encourage collective growth.
Beyond photography, Rachel integrates a variety of artistic mediums, including sculpture and poetry, into her work. “If they can’t see it, they can hear it, and if they can’t hear it, they can read it.” This philosophy underscores her belief in the power of storytelling across multiple senses.
Through her work, Rachel seeks to shift the narrative, urging people to see “different” as valuable rather than deficient, to practice mindfulness in words and actions, and to acknowledge how our behaviors shape the world’s perception of us.
