I have always been attracted to art; its physicality is an outlet for emotional release. Capturing stories in their raw and vulnerable forms, whether documentary or conceptual, is like letting go of a breath of air you didn’t realize you were holding in. I want people to think, to cry, to be angry, to be happy,to be melodramatic when looking at my work. I want people to find themselves in my art and be content with the representation of who they are and what they have been through. I refuse to put a filter on the world and look at it for only its beauty; the damage has been done, and the ugly will always peek through. As an artist, I want to put the imperfect on display not to make it beautiful but to create an equilibrium of who we are, human beings unfortified by our emotions.
